Job Description
Our plants arethe groundworkfor GM and aplaceof innovation. We need paint process engineer interns toutilizetheir creativity and innovation to develop efficiencies in material flow and support and define implementation of new processes and equipment. These tasks would teach youroot causinganalysis andproblem solvingas well as leadership skills to provide technical support and direction to support personnel/skilled trades within the organization. Quality and safety are extremely meaningful to us, so enforcing safe work practices is the highest priority, so you may develop and support safety protocols. There isa high levelof analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that assembly processes aremaintainedto run effectively for enginemanufacturing
Work with other team members on problem solving and continuous improvement initiativesdaily
Collaborating with hourly and salaried employees
Problem-solve (analyze data,determineroot causes, develop implementation plans) and resolve issues which are affecting assembly,qualityorthroughput
Actively identify& pursueopportunities to improve operations by reducingcost, reducing energy usage,improvequality, etc.
Collaborate with production and maintenancepersonnel
Resolve issues, implement improvements, and communicate status & opportunities, etc.
Proposes and evaluates the processes for equipment in productionareas
Provides technical support for manufacturingoperations
Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/orperceptions
Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas ofexpertise
Activelyidentifiesnew areas for learning and takes advantage of learningopportunities
Able to assign work to small or large groups ofemployees

Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to:
Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Read standardized work instructions,operatemachines and tools, and perform quality inspections.
Promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and safety shoes.
Work in a loud manufacturing environment that is notclimate controlled(conditions can be hot or cold).
Frequently and repetitively bend, twist, kneel,crouchand reach to perform work.
Lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
Occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipment.
Required Qualifications:
Pursuit of aBachelor’sdegree in one of the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, Controls Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, MaterialsEngineering/MaterialsScience and Manufacturing Engineering
Must be graduating betweenDecember 2026 and June 2027
Able to work fulltime,40 hoursper week
Must be willing to work in a plant environment
